Biologically active vitamins work in a similar way. When vitamins are taken they’re in an inactive state. The body needs to prepare them for use by changing them into their active state. Biologically active vitamins are already in their active, ready-to-use state.
People with the MTHFR gene mutation (which you may not know that you have, but about 25% of the population do) need a ready-to-ride bike, as they are unable to assemble one themselves.
They have a highly reduced ability to convert folic acid (the synthetic form of B9) into folate, the active/methylated form of B9, for instance.
